How do you stop lips from chapping ?

My lips are almost always chapped unless I apply some lip balm regularly. How can I stop this from happening ? And I am living in a country which has warm and damp weather all year. How do you stop lips from chapping ?
Dry or chapped lips are one of the first signs of dehydration, so make sure that you are drinking lots of water. Try to literally double your water intake (plain water, not soda, tea, etc) for a few days and see if your lips improve. If so, more water is at least part of the solution.

You should also look closely at what you are putting on your lips.

You could be mildly allergic to one of the ingredients in your chapstick, which could cause the condition to be worse and not better. I have so many allergies, and I have noticed that some chapstick-type products cause my lips to be severly dry no matter how often I use them. If you suspect this could be the case, try some more natural products like those from Burt's Bees (I've seen them at Cracker Barrell recently). I have not used it myself, but have heard great things about it from others with this problem.

Or, you could be using a chapstick product that doesn't have enough moisturizer. You have to put something on your lips that moisturizes and locks the moisture in. If it doesn't do both of those things, it defeats the purpose. Vasoline-type products are a good barrier for locking moisture in, but remember you have to have moisture there in the first place to lock it in. If your lips are so dry that there isn't enough moisture there, then you put on a vasoline-type product, you're actually keeping moisture from going in.

Look for products that contain aloe (for its moisturizing and healing properties). That should provide some relief. I personally prefer Avon's Moisture Therapy Moisturizing Lip Treatment (that's what it says right on the tube) in the white tube with a blue lid. It works well for me. It also has SPF 15, which helps during the summer when I am outside a lot.How do you stop lips from chapping ?
use chapstick whenever your sleeping. especially if you have a fan on or blowing on you at night.
Use chapstick as often as you need or use vaseline directly from the bottle. Drink a lot of water too, that will keep you hydrated.
I wish i knew becuase i have chapped lips right now!

I don't live in a hot country so it just must be affected by the cold %26amp; hot weather eugh!

I think u may have already answered you own question stick with the lip balm!
1) keep hydrated.

2) apply lip balm regularly, whether they are chapped or not.
use chap-stick after every time u brush ur teeth...after u brush ur teeth u feel that ur lips are dry from the paste..so apply cap-stick after every time u brush ur teeth
If it's not being caused by the weather or sunburn, have you been using any new lipgloss or lipstick? If so, your skin may be reacting to it. If not, another cause may be a lack of Vitamin B6. Try eating more tuna or banana's, and use coconut oil on your lips. Also, try to avoid licking your lips when they feel dry. Your saliva will moisten your lips for a short period of time, but as the wind blows or it gets hot, your saliva will dry your lips even more. If nothing else is helping, you may want to ask a dermatologist.

Good luck with that! I HATE having chapped lips... it's annoying and hurts so much!
first off ure lips get addicted to lip balm so start using straight vasile and it should clear up... but my friend took her self ';off'; of all lip balm because ure lips get addicted theres a chemical in it for a drying agent and if u always use lip balm it is taking over. so use straight vasile and get back to me pls.

*hope this helps a little*
I'm like you! I have to wear chapstick all the time; I'm addicted and my sister is too. And...it has to be the Chapstick brand, so I buy it in packages of six. Now my kids are using it all the time too! I don't think it matters where you live. I have spent time in different climates and I still have to wear it. Some of my friends are the same way. If we don't have it with us while we're out, we panic and have to run to the store before we can do anything else. They need to have a group called chapped lipped anonymous for us!
Lip Balm.

Since i found applying lip balm in the daytime too inconvenient, I just apply regularly at night before going to sleep. It works for me.

And drink plenty of water.
drink lots and lots water, wash your face twice daily properly. use antibacterial scrubs and etc. apply a thin layer of vaseline to the face in the morning and rub in properly. do you suffer from dry skin conditions? if so you should see a dermatologist, for further help. apply vaseline to the lips when required, but dont over do it! hope iv helped! J.
apply carmex or lip balm daily. carmex always does the trick for me!! you lips should be fine after awhile!! drink alot of water and dont lick your lips alot and dont lick them at all while your outside
