I was in a rodeo riding my horse April 25, 26, and 27. On Monday the 28 is when my lips started blistering and being painful. It has now been 8 days and i still have blisters and a little pain. Plus i have lots more rodeos coming up including this weekend and i dont want it to happen again. what is the best lip balm to use to prevent this. What can i use for 2nd degree sunburn on my lips?
DON'T use Vaseline on your burns, it doesn't allow air through to the skin and causes the blisters to get worse. Use medicated blistex (available at any pharmacy/drug store) until the blisters go down and/or the peeling stops. In the future, use lip balm with SPF, and lots of it. Also, put SPF 30 on your face, there are lots of types available specifically for your face. Also, make sure to reapply these regularly because they will wear out. What can i use for 2nd degree sunburn on my lips?
You can use Vaseline on your lips, and that's what I would use to help sooth them now.
To prevent further burns, get a simple Chapstick or Blistex that has an SPF of at least 15, and re-apply that whenever you go outside or every 2 hours.
That should help, and good luck with the rodeo!
Chapstick had an SPF of 15....most other lip balm companies do to....check to see if you can find something for your lips higher than that...if not
Apply a small amount of sunscreen AROUND your lips....NOT ACTUALLY TOUCHING the lips, though...
