Is it wrong to kiss your baby on the lips?

I do all the time along with his cheeks, toes, fingers, hands, forehead! Anyhow, my mom said that she thought it was kind of odd and that she never did with my sister and me.





Thoughts?Is it wrong to kiss your baby on the lips?
I think it's odd not to. I kiss my baby on the lips, nose, forehead, cheeks, hands, toes, you name it, all the time. She's too cute not to. But she's 6 weeks old so eventually she'll grow up and I won't be able to give her kisses all over her face anymore. Enjoy it while it lasts. They are only so little and sweet for a little while.Is it wrong to kiss your baby on the lips?
My Doctor always told his patience that even thou u are the parents is very nasty to kiss your kids on the mouth/lips cause us grown up have germs no matter how much u wash your mouth,especially when they are new born,That's why when the kids start growing up they be kissing other kids they don't know on the lips/mouth cause they learned it from their parents,I think is nasty aswell,I kiss my kids on the cheeks,hands,feet,head, nose but not on the mouth,well that's my opinion...everybody is intitle to their own opinion in this is mine.
I don't think there is anything wrong with it.I do it all the time.I know some of the older generation (aka our parents) didn't do it so much but that doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with it.I would just tell your mom that maybe she is the odd one.You just love your baby and cant get enough baby kisses..Normal mommy behaviour..:)
We do with our kids. Little rosebud kisses! Except for my 10 month son - then is rosebud goopy, wet, drooly, lick-ee kisses!





We didn't when we were growing up, though. Things change!





We'll probably stop when the kids start to become embarrassed by us when they're older - then we'll chase the down and kiss them on the cheeks!

i am a dad and i kiss my baby on her lips, forehead, belly even her bottom and eat her cheeks. its my baby as far she is baby i will always do it. i love her so much and its ur baby tell ur mum to take a break. too much interfering will destroy your life. there is no bugs from your mouth, i put her dummy in my mouth before giving to her. its safer cos our saliva destroys bactteria.
I kiss my baby on the mouth..cheeks..nose..head..forehead..tum鈥?kiss my baby all over!?!?!?!? I can't get enough of her..she's my angel..my world...my everything....I'm one obssessed mommy...I kiss her on the mouth with drool and everything!...haha...I don't see anything odd about it.
I kiss both of my kids on the lips evryday and that will never change well at least until they get old enough to be grossed out because I want to kiss them. It is not odd just a mother showing love for her kids.

There is nothing wrong with that in my eyes. I kiss my son all the time! I don't think it is wrong, that's your baby. Kisses all over, shows your love!
yeah i do all the time i kiss her on the lips, on her cheeks, on her nose, her tummy - she laughs when i do :)
I did but I wouldn't let anyone else not even my other kids. I didn't do it very often I was too afraid of germs but when he would pouch his little lips I just couldn't help it.
I do! I don't think it's wrong, heck if I was sick she'd get the immunities through my milk. I don't want anyone else near he mouth though! lol.
i think your mom just needs to relax. you kiss that baby as much as you want.

I do it. Lately he opens his mouth though and that's kind of gross, so I've been aiming for the nose.

Your baby is too young to distinguish between who has good intentions and who has bad intentions. I would leave the lips alone -- because you never want to give some crazy person an opportunity to violate your child -- and because your child has never known anything wrong with kissing on the lips because you do it. You always want your children to tell you everything when they are little that's going on when you are not around and you want them to know that adults kissing babies on the lips is not right. I would not want my son telling me that ';Uncle Buck's cousins best friend kissed me on the lips and I am only 6 years old.'; You might not find out this information if you're making them feel comfortable by kissing them on the lips. Babies are sensitive to touch and taste and they are directly in tune with their six senses. Babies are not going to know when to stop, so don't start it.





On the other hand, we're in a flu season, ecoli bacteria on shopping carts. Let it be, kiss your baby on the forehead, they'll know you love them.
