My microphone is giving me a stinging sensation on my lips whenever i sing on it. Can i reduce this?

My Shure microphone is plugged into my P.A and i dont know if the mic is too close of turned up to high, but whenever i press my lips against the mic, it stings them, and it begins to hurt. Does anyone know how to stop this?My microphone is giving me a stinging sensation on my lips whenever i sing on it. Can i reduce this?
Sounds like you have a grounding issue with the mic. However you aren't supposed to put your lips on the mic.My microphone is giving me a stinging sensation on my lips whenever i sing on it. Can i reduce this?
This would indicate that you have an earth / ground problem somewhere in your connection chain. Make sure your amplification has a proper earth connection, and that it is not ';lifted';. Also make sure that you are using properly shielded microphone cable. What is a tingling sensation right now could become a fatal current leaping from the mic into your face. NO JOKE !! Don't take any risks with electrical equipment, especially not anything which you are coming into direct contact with !!
Do not put the microphone on your lips. Hold it away from your mouth and you will not be stung.
