when you finish the kiss, continue the hug, nuzzle your face and lips into his shoulder/neck area. Hug him a bit tighter, and plant a light kiss on his neck.
Why don't you just tell him that you don't want to yet?
He should understand and if he doesn't, than he doesn't deserve to be with you.
