How long do those magazines last before they don't work properly. I already know that they are the best available. How many rounds before they are finished? The reason why I ask is that I need to know how many of them I will need to last for the lifetime of my Ruger 10/22.How long do Butler Creek Steel Lips magazine last?
randkl has not used many of these apparently. If he would spend more time in the field instead of being a smart *#^ he would know a little more. If it is a 30 round clip, only put 29. 50 round clip, only put 48 or 49. Definitely do not leave it fully loaded for a long period of time. It potentially can compress the spring. There is no definite answer on how long they last. I have had one split at the seam after a month of serious turtle plucking. It may have been in the elements longer than others and been loaded and dropped and kicked and not given the love of a first born child. I encourage you to purchase all you can at face value now. If and when the ban goes back in effect they will sky rocket in price to 50 or 60 bucks. How long do Butler Creek Steel Lips magazine last?
They'll last quite a while. But beware, the steel lips rust quickly! I bought one of those a few months ago and the lips already have a significant amount of rust on them. The magazine was kept with other magazines that have remained in excellent condition. So storage conditions are not to blame.
edit: Stainless steel, eh? Won't rust, huh? Tell that to the rusty Butler Creek magazine I'm holding right now. Pfft.
Keep it clean and do not fill it all the way up, and it will last a long time.
